We are currently the leader in outdoor advertising - highway lighting in Nairobi, high mast lighting and slum lighting in and around the whole of Kenya. Being a community-based initiative we enable companies to advertise with a purpose, the purpose being an opportunity to support lighting initiatives within the country.
Brief
In the pursuit of making highways and streets safer, Adopt a Light Limited developed the revolutionary concept of lighting up Nairobi through advertising on street lighting infrastructure and received a license to sell street pole advertising from City council of Nairobi through standard procurements in 2002. Adopt a Light Limited is a self-funded Corporation with headquarters in Nairobi.
Street Light Poles
The quality of lighting in the streets of Nairobi has greatly improved. Independent research done in the United Kingdom has established that street lighting reduces crime rate by up to 40%; this means that extra resources that were previously used to curb insecurity in the city can be deployed to other areas.
Slum Lighting
Over 60% of Nairobi's population of 3.5 million lives in the Informal Settlements. Currently, there are over 160 slums in the city, covering an approximate area of 500 hectares. Kenya's informal settlements are generally described as being over populated havens of crime that lack proper sanitation and social amenities.
High Mast
Adopt a Light also provides high mast solutions for a range of applications including industrial and distribution areas, ports, airports, retail parks and highways. With over eight years experience we have established a reputation for providing the best engineered high mast solutions to suit the customer's exact requirement all underpinned by professional project management and expert lighting design.

Over the years, many leading organizations have joined the effort and are adopting highway lights for advertising and brand building. Thus in turn enhancing security and adding value to the city's landscape. These adverts are strategically placed, well spaced and give a lateral view within the eye-line of the driver and pedestrian. The light boxes are lit and have two advertising faces allowing for round the clock advertising, and giving our motorists maximum road visibility..
The key objective of the Millennium Development Goals is to improve the lives of at least 100 million slum dwellers worldwide. It is in line with this noble objective that Adopt a Light embarked on an ambitious project to light up the lives of Kenya's disadvantaged population residing in the Informal Settlements. Our Slum Lighting Project was commissioned in December 2005, where 60% of the Kenyan working force live; lacking basic social amenities such as shelter, access to safe and clean water, electricity, proper drainage, sanitation, security… just to mention but a few.
